Black Artist Incubator

Note from our founder:

Dear HiiiWAV Fam,

Welcome to the first edition of “HiiiLIGHTS”, the HiiiWAV Newsletter!

Recently, news feeds have been dominated by concerns over AI, from job loss to privacy issues, making it a daunting era for creatives. However, at HiiiWAV, we firmly believe that our community should be at the forefront of technology, innovating and owning tools rather than merely consuming them. We’re not just playing catch-up; we’re leading a revolution aimed at building generational wealth and elevating quality of life for black creatives.

Emerging AI and AR tools are game-changers that can simplify our work and pave the way for unprecedented forms of art and music. Fifty years ago, the birth of hip-hop was an innovative twist on using turntables, creating an entirely new art form. Critics questioned the creativity in sampling, yet look how far we’ve come. We’re confident that Black creators can harness new technologies to break fresh ground. Here at HiiiWAV, we’re committed to empowering the next generation to use AI in inventive ways to revolutionize music and the creative arts.

Keep rising,

– Bosko🙏🏽

See you at Demo Day,

Recap: Sci-Fi Sunday's Stellar Success —
A Night to Remember!

Greetings from the Founder's Desk,

Thank you to everyone who attended our sold-out Sci-Fi Sunday featuring Sistah Scifi and DJ Mani Draper. Your enthusiasm turned 2781 Telegraph Ave into a hub of community, discussion, and entertainment. Special thanks to those who contributed snacks, drinks, and helped with the setup.

One of the most significant points of discussion that emerged from the screening of ‘They Cloned Tyrone’ centered around the theme of Black folks feeling compelled to conceal their trauma through comedy. It has become evident that comedy often serves as a tranquilizer for the deep-seated anger arising from injustice. This anger is a powerful and action-oriented emotion.

At HiiiWAV, our primary focus is on taking action. However, a crucial question arises: How can we channel the energy and momentum of this anger, which incites action, into constructive endeavors that contribute to growth rather than perpetuate division? We must do so while remaining vigilant against the allure of being placated by humor.
